Distal hypospadias is a birth defect where the opening of the urethra (the tube that carries urine and sperm) is located on the underside of the penis, near the tip. This can be repaired only by surgery. The surgery involves correction of the penile curvature (chordee correction), creating a new urethra(urethroplasty) and creating an opening at the tip of the penis (glansplasty). This is done using the excess foreskin on the dorsal side hence circumcision is a part of the procedure in most of these cases.
Case details:
Master A.A, underwent surgery for distal hypospadias at Hypospadias foundation, Navi Mumbai, India. The family was from Indore, but they are settled in Mumbai.
